• Nicky Jenks

    Principal


    Trained locally and then at the London College of Dance, she gained the Diploma from the 3 year course along with Associateships in Imperial ballet, National and Greek dance. She then furthered her study to gain the Royal Academy of Dance Teaching Certificate and Diploma and is a fully registered member of the Royal Academy of Dance, and a member of the IDTA. Nicky is Practical Teaching Supervisor and a Mentor to students studying for the Certificate in Ballet Teaching Studies with the Royal Academy of Dance. She is a member of the Regional Advisory Committee with the Royal Academy of Dance. Nicky has also studied and worked with children with special educational needs.

  • Naomi Porter

    Teacher

    Naomi is our youngest teacher working within the school and has trained through the school since the age 3. Naomi went on to gain a triple distinction* in an extended diploma in Dance at Bridgwater college whilst at the same time studying on the Royal Academy of Dance, Certificate in Ballet Teaching studies and is now a fully registered teacher and member of the Royal Academy of Dance. Naomi also teaches for Queens College, Taunton and is currently finishing her study for teachers qualifications in Pilates with the Pilates studio South West and Alan Herdman.

  • Natasha Huckle

    Teacher

    Natasha trained in Taunton, before completing a 3 year diploma course at the Urdang Academy in London. She is a qualified teacher with the Royal Academy of Dance, she taught ballet in Turkey before returning to the UK with her 2 children, she also teaches at Taunton School.

  • Lucy began dancing at 3yrs old and at the age of 16yrs moved to London to train at Bird college, to professionally train in ballet, modern, tap, jazz, street, contemporary, drama, singing & musical theatre. During her training she gained her ballet teaching qualification at 17yrs & modern & tap at 18yrs along with a musical theatre diploma. Following graduation she performed in West End shows as well as UK tours before teaching in & around London for various dance colleges & schools while furthering her teaching qualifications. In 2004 she moved to Somerset to run her own dance school which she did for 10 years teaching ballet, modern, tap, street dance, singing, drama & fitness across all ages, extensively entering candidates for exams & competitions until she had her first daughter in 2014. Lucy is delighted to join the Nicky Jenks teaching team.

  • Lara Cook

    Teacher

    Lara, at the age of three commenced her training in dance at the Geraldine Lamb Dance School. Whilst at Geraldine Lamb, Lara studied the RAD, ISTD and IDTA syllabi. Her vocational training then took her to study at Stella Mann Performing Arts School and then on to Italia Conti Arts Centre where she gained her certificate of teaching in the life-long learning sector for dance.  For the last 5 years she has been employed by Disney Cruise Line as a performer and presenter. In line with her performing she was also a Disney trainer, creating, teaching and cleaning all of the unique choreographed pieces which were exclusive to Disney Cruise Line.  Lara has chosen to return home to the West Country to share her love of teaching and passion for dance with the performers of the future.

  • Helen Pitman

    Helen Pitman trained at the Alison Axford Theatre School in Devon, leaving with Grade 8 Ballet and Advanced 2 Modern and Tap. She has since danced professionally both in the UK and abroad and is now Head Girl for the dance company 'Destination Dance'. Helen is a student teacher specialising in festival work, Commercial Jazz and Hip Hop/Street Style, she is also a personal trainer. Helen has just been accepted onto the Royal Academy of Dance Certificate in Ballet Teaching Studies programme to qualify as a dance teacher.

  • Katie Herriot

    Katie trained with the school from age 7 and was accepted into year 10 at the prestigious performing arts school 'The Hammond'. Katie has trained in ballet, jazz, contemporary, street, tap, pilates, musical theatre, singing and dancers health; achieving Advanced One in ballet. Katie progressed into The Hammond upper school where she gained awards for ballet and was the lead in many dance productions. At the end of a 3 year course she has gained a level 6 Diploma in Dance. Katie will continue training to gain registered teacher status (RTS) with the RAD.
